Open Sovereignty regularly produces sectoral analyses to highlight the geoeconomic dependencies of value chains in Europe. These studies are conducted in partnership with public institutions, private stakeholders, or research centres, based on certified data and a shared method.

What the studies contain

  1. Studies by NACE code and country
A structured approach to visualising sectoral vulnerabilities.

  2. Geographical dependency mappings
Analysis by blocks: clients, suppliers, digital tools, governance.

  3. Applied geoeconomic typologies
Each country is classified according to its risk level (EU, ally, neutral, tensions...).

  4. Annotated tables and visualisations
Provision of usable files and clear graphical elements.

Why this work is necessary

European value chains are increasingly exposed to external strategic pressures. These studies allow for objectifying dependencies within a sector, documenting geopolitical risks, and guiding industrial policies or purchasing decisions.

How we proceed

  1. Analysis block structuring
Use of the SovTrack method on sectoral aggregates.

  2. Cross-referencing public databases
Eurostat, COMEXT, FIGARO, customs and tax data.

  3. Applied geoeconomic weightings
Geographical ranking of trade and financial flows.

  4. Methodological partnerships
Co-construction with institutions, experts, and sectoral administrations.

Planned additional features

  • Publication of a regular sectoral barometer on critical dependencies

  • Integration of data into the SovTrack platform for each NACE code

  • Interactive visualisation tools for institutions, communities, and companies
